M/S Azad Abul Kalam & Co (AAKCO), Chartered Accountants have been in chartered accounting practice for about 39 years with legacy under the license of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). The firm has been serving diverse clients nationwide with outstanding service and reliability since its inception. Background
Originally the firm was established as a partnership firm back in 1984 as Azad Zamir & Co., Chartered Accountants with two partners namely Abul Kalam Azad FCA (enrollment # 184) and Ahsan Zamir FCA (enrollment # 269). In 2009 Mr. Ahsan Zamir, due to his sudden physical and practical problem, had to form a separate firm as Ahsan Zamir & Co. while the original partner of the firm Mr. Abul Kalam Azad continued to carry on practice as sole practitioner renaming the firm as Azad Abul Kalam & Co., Chartered Accountants from 16 March, 2009. The experience of the firm is thus reckoned as over 39 years (23 Years as a partnership and 16 Years as a sole practitioner) serving a diversified range of clients since inception.
At Present
As Bangladesh saw unprecedented economic growth during the last 15 years, the firm Azad Abul Kalam & Co also has been going through a constant growth phase in terms of professional work, due to tremendous surge of trade and commerce, leading to stringent practice of corporate governance. It has, therefore, become necessary to expand the firm by way of induction of new partners with substantial experience and knowledge in the relevant field. Accordingly, Mr. Md. Giash Uddin, FCA has been inducted as a partner of Azad Abul Kalam & Co, Chartered Accountants and transformed the firm to a Partnership Firm with effect from 16 March, 2023, keeping the name of the firm unchanged. Permission letter issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh to start practice as a Partnership Public Accountant under the name and style of M/s. Azad Abul Kalam & Co., Chartered Accountants.
Way Forward
Enlistment with Financial Reporting Council (FRC)
Financial Reporting Council of Bangladesh, the regulatory body under the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh, for auditing and audit firms, has recently, for the first time, enlisted 145 audit firms under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh. Azad Abul Kalam & Co. has been made a member of the enlisted firm under serial number 16 (CAF-001-016) published in the website of FRC (www.frc.gov.bd).
The FRC is the sole watchdog to monitor the functions of auditors, ensure transparency and accountability in accounting and auditing organizations including various government, semi-government, autonomous and non-government institutions.
The firm is in the process of enlisting with other concerned regulatory bodies enabling us to provide a wide range of professional services to all forms of entities.
